Abstract

Amidst a strategic landscape marked by competition among major global powers, exacerbated by conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, there arises the need to examine the role of the European Union on the world stage. Amid debates surrounding the purported strategic autonomy of the EU and its geopolitical actions, this article seeks to delineate Europe's current position on the global chessboard, assessing both transatlantic relations in general and those existing between NATO and the EU in particular. Nevertheless, this article addresses the EU's capacity and willingness to become a genuine strategic actor.
