Abstract

The geopolitical landscape of Europe is undergoing a profound transformation as the continent navigates the complexities of a multipolar world, intensified by the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This paper argues that the European Union lacks a cohesive geopolitical strategy, as internal divisions among member states prevent the formation of a unified foreign, energy, and security policy. The analysis explores how the distinct geographical, historical, and political realities of individual EU countries hinder a common approach to external challenges. Additionally, the study examines the implications of Europe's strategic autonomy in the face of emerging global powers like Russia, China and India, as well as the continued dependence on the United States. The prospective method is employed to assess potential geopolitical trajectories and the future of Europe in an increasingly fragmented international order.
