José Carlos Hernández is a predoctoral researcher in the Department of Political Science and Administration of the University of Granada. His main research topics are homicidal violence, security, organized crime and drug policy in Mexico.
He was a collaborating fellow of the Department of Political Science and Administration of the University of Granada during the 2016-2017 academic year. He is currently a member of the International Security Studies Group and the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Security Studies.
He is a graduate in Political Science and Administration from the University of Granada (with studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, enjoying a Santander Iberoamerica Scholarship), obtaining the mention of the best academic record of the 2013-2017 promotion. He also has a Master's degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Salamanca. During the realization of the same, the University of São Paulo granted him a scholarship to carry out a research stay for a period of three months.
